At the indicated time, we will meet in the center of the walled city, at our office on Calle Mayor nº 18, and after introductions, we will head to the entrance of the fortress.
First, we will notice some details of the castle’s exterior, built on an ancient Islamic citadel, to begin discovering all its history and secrets.
The builders were the knights of the Order of the Temple. What was the origin of this most powerful religious and military organization? Why does it remain one of the most fascinating topics today, 700 years after its fall? We will find out!
Next, we will visit the interior of the Fortress and admire the marvelous defensive construction.
By visiting the most spectacular rooms, we will uncover the intricacies that led Pope Benedict XIII to turn Peñíscola Castle into one of only three papal seats in the entire history of Christianity.
After reliving the epic resistance of the Heretic Pope, we will climb to the top of the defensive towers to admire the spectacular panoramic views over the peninsula and the beaches.
Finally, after almost 2 hours of touring, we will conclude the guided visit of Peñíscola Castle at the foot of the Pope Luna Tower.
From there, you can continue exploring on your own the areas of the fortress you liked most, or extend the visit by another hour and continue with a visit to the most emblematic points of the walled city.
