Itinerary
We will start our tour outside the walls, in front of the Convent of Sant Francesc.
We will explore the building, originally from the 16th century, as well as the austere life of its founders, the Franciscan monks.
Later, we will head into the historic center of Benicarló, the roots of the town.
We will trace back the primitive Muslim farmhouse and look for its tracks in the urban layout. We will visit the most noble buildings in the city, the prison, the old Casa de la Vila or Town Hall, as well as the Baroness’s House and the Palace of the Marquis of Benicarló. We will admire the monumental Baroque facade of the Benicarló Church and continue towards the Quatre Cantons, an emblematic spot where you could once see the four gates of the walled city.
We will finish our guided tour by visiting the Sistine Chapel of Valencian Ceramics, the fabulous 18th-century ceramic kitchen of the old Marquis of Benicarló Palace House.
