The Montsià Mountain Range overlooks the Mediterranean Sea above the Ebro Delta from its 753 m summit. A surprising range that still preserves some of the oldest and best-preserved populations of holm oaks (known locally as carrascas) in this area.
Only a few centuries ago, the huge carrascas in this area were felled to build boats. Carrasca wood was especially prized for building warships. Only in this small area around the Burgar spring are these magnificent colossi of nature preserved.
Discover spectacular views over the Ebro Delta. Walk through riverside forests and admire the different shades of green. Explore old farmhouses such as Matarredona, where our ancestors, with tremendous effort, eked out their livelihood.
